2. Read the text and complete the table below. On March 11, 2011 an earthquake hit Japan. The local time was 2.46 p.m. Its magnitude was 8.9. A great tsunami hit the country after this povverful earthquake. Both the earthquake and the tsunami caused a big damage. Unfortunately, thousands of people lost their lives.

When I was a child, it hit our city because of a heawy rain. The roa ds were full of dirty water. My family tried to find stones, woods and sandbags to stop the water entering inside our house. We can’t prevent natural disasters but we can take precautions to minimize the effect.
We can also educate each other on these subjects to know what to do.
I think it is best to educate people for safety.
Governments should monitor structures for them to be strong enough for a disaster.
I think we should be more wary about climate change.

1. Heavy rain started at around 2 a.m. and caused a disaster. It affected the town of the North East. It left some houses under flood.

2. Today, a 9.0 magnitude of earthquake hit Japan. It occurred at the depth of 32 kilometers in the West Pacific Ocean and lasted almost 6 minutes.

3. Heavy rain caused tonnes of rock and mud to slide down the mountainside, destroying roads and railways. It was a big landslide. Luckily, nobody had been injured.
